Telling the Story

Call us discerning, call us fussy — as wordsmiths, we obsess over getting the language just right!  Our goal is to choose accurate descriptors that not only depict what we’re trying to convey, but also lift the words off the page to enliven the reader.

We all know the feeling of reading and suddenly being transported to another time and place.  Sometimes we take on the identity of the protagonist, and sometimes we’re a silent observer as the plot moves along.  Imagine yourself, if you will, as an unwitting companion traveling alongside a Michelin starred chef. Passengers on the night train crossing China’s Sichuan province, you inadvertently discover he’s on a frantic mission to obtain and smuggle the one essential, but elusive, ingredient that defines his signature sauce.  With his reputation at stake, he’s impelled to find the seasoning because there’s no substitute for its fiery, haunting flavor.  One taste of this incomparable spice and all the senses are aroused and engaged.
