Peace Dawning

As I do every morning after a little coffee, I read from a handful of devotional-type books that help me start my day.  One of my favorites is The Book of Awakening by Mark Nepo.  His messages never fail to inspire me as he shares his joys, his struggle with and through cancer, and the challenges of just getting through life.

The Soaring Twenties

A couple of months ago I posted “Getting to the Top.”  Of course I’m not there yet …  I’m still inspired and I’m still climbing.  But in thinking about the end of one decade and being on the cusp of embarking on a new one, I thought the epithet, “Soaring Twenties,” sounded good.

Getting to the Top

The other day as I was meditating, I had a vision of myself standing on top of a mountain.  I’ve never done any serious climbing or any rugged hiking for that matter, so the image of being on top of a mountain peak was a little out of left field for me.  But as I started to think about that picture in my mind, what I was able to relate to was a personal sense of accomplishment and well-being.  The feelings that you have when you finally reach a big goal:  elation, excitement, fulfillment, relief, satisfaction and peace.

Do What Needs to be Done

I woke up this morning with these words stuck in my head, and as I went through my morning ritual – reading, meditation, showering, dressing – they naggingly wound their way into my thoughts.
